The great pyrenees is a long haired breed, with a thick undercoat. It is very important to keep them well groomed. It is recommended to give them a few baths a year, but not too many due to their sensitive skin. Dogs with white fur have sensitive skin to both baths and the sun, so it is important not to cut their hair too short! In their bath use a white enhancing shampoo, this is what we use. Stay on top of the claws by trimming them once a week, or bi-weekly. Great pyrenees have double dew-claws on there back feet, which grow very rapidly. Make sure to keep nails trimmed to avoid them growing into the dogs paw pad. Also, use an undercoat rake and slicker brush to smooth out their fur. Always inspect the insides of their ears for ticks, and clean them with a damp cloth. If your dog gets matts, try to get them out as soon as possible. Food we use Your puppy will come with all of the general "Puppy Vaccines." You have the choice to worm your dog with a vet prescribed wormer, or an alternative de-wormer.
Other vaccines, such as the rabies vaccine, is given at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years. This vaccine is required by law.
